Incorporated in 1979, Bernie LaRock & Son, Inc. is currently managed by the 3rd generation of LaRock family owners. The firm has worked as a contractor for the State of Vermont over two decades and at a Nuclear Regulatory Commission facility for over three decades. We take pride in having no OSHA reportable events, meaning safety is always a primary objective on every job, big or small. Safety will always be discussed at every pre-job briefing for every project.
As of 2019, the company has 4 co-owners (50% female owned). Three co-owners are working project managers you can expect to see on site at your project. Rocky, the senior owner, has 45 years of equipment operating experience. Kitsie has 18 years of equipment operating experience and has her MBA. Justin has 18 years of equipment operating experience. We have 2 employees who are certified flaggers, 2 employees trained in Heartsaver First Aid, and all employees have completed OSHA and MSHA training. The three co-owners who worked at the NRC regulated facility noted above passed thorough background checks and site specific detailed safety training, experience they bring with them to our current projects.
In 2019, LaRock Construction was awarded a contract to built a 1.3 million dollar bonded parking lot addition for Commonwealth Dairy. We completed this project in August of 2019, on-time, on-budget with no recordables. We installed a 1000’ length (max 28’ high) of block wall with concrete anchoring. We filled the blocks with 3000 cubic yards of stone, 1600 cubic yards crushed, 3,000 cubic yards of bank run, installing a sub-soil infiltration system for 100-year flood plain drainage, 800’ of 6x6 guardrail, 1000’ x 5’ chain-link fence, 1200’ of silt fence, 50,000 square feet of pavement, 42K in new lighting, 80k precast bridge structure over stream, landscaping, maintaining silt fence and Act 250 requirements for wetlands. The ability to do projects of this scope displays the same capabilities we will bring to your job.
Our primary workload is commercial but we also complete residential projects. Our core capabilities include, but are not limited to: general earth work, excavation, foundations, land clearing, gravel parking, site restoration, septic, demo, trucking, underground utilities, erosion control, landscaping, tree cutting, general contracting. We even handle winter snowplowing for our local hospital.
